Context
Domenation is a game from Blackmouth Games.
Released in Spain, in early access in July 2024. It is aimed at both PC and Different platforms where a controller must be used.
I was lucky enough to participate in their latest Interface Redesign and implementation of graphics necessary for menus.
The game consists of a competitive 3rd person shooter set in a future world, where players fight against creatures and other players in a huge map full of amazing sceneries for up to 42 players. The game has been designed for fast and competitive 12-minute games.
Case
Domenation is a fast-paced, fun game set in a cybernetic-robotic world. The game's distinguishing feature is the domes, a kind of dome with electronic mesh that protects the player across the map. At the beginning of each game, the player can choose between several characters and their different skins. And throughout the game, the player will equip himself with better weapons and shields to survive the game, which lasts approximately 15 minutes.
Solutions
Create a design that accompanies the fundamental pillars of the game, such as being based on technology and an apocalyptic world, in addition to creating great readability and accessibility.
My goals:
Create a consistent design system that creates a sense of uniformity across screens. Helping to generate the game's image from the same interface.
Bring the interface to life with interesting and fast interactions that generate a feeling of comfort and quality.
It had to remain faithful to the previous interface, continuing the artistic line. But this time, adjustments had to be made to make it a more actual interface style and on par with interfaces from similar games.
